The Healing SPoT
The South Tower CLT and Black Zócalo collaboration is transforming a neglected triangular site, scarred by the CA-180 freeway, into a vibrant educational urban farm and cottage village. Once overlooked by traditional development, this space is now becoming a symbol of renewal and growth.
We are proud to support this inspiring initiative by designing and constructing a storage and shade structure for the urban farm. This innovative storage solution will utilize industrialized hemp, a sustainable and carbon-sequestering material, to create a dedicated space for Black Zócalo’s team. Here, they will safely store tools and supplies essential for their work in land stewardship and food cultivation.
The compact storage structure, measuring under 120 square feet, will feature efficient recessed shelving between studs, maximizing functionality. The interior will be finished with lime clay plaster, free of VOCs and synthetic additives, to ensure a healthy and safe indoor environment. Additionally, a biodegradable hemp fabric shade structure will provide natural UV protection, aligning with both environmental and health-conscious practices.
The Healing SPoT Educational Urban Farm aims to nurture an inclusive and diverse community through the celebration of heritage. By offering classes and Pláticas (meaningful conversations) focused on Indigenous land stewardship, urban farming, cooking, and composting, the project is creating opportunities for connection and learning. Activities such as community composting, seed starting and saving, and preparing seasonal, culturally significant recipes invite everyone to engage with the land and each other.

Dream Project: Tiny Home Village
Our dream project is a vibrant tiny home village designed for foster youth who have aged out of the system. By creating safe, sustainable housing, we aim to offer a stable foundation where young people can build their futures with dignity, support, and community.
